I Want To Be Rich
Forever Searching for Richness - I Want to Be Rich!
Searching for Richness is something many of us are guilty of doing from time to time. Some people are absolutely and literally obsessed with it.
I have spent me entire adulthood life searching for the ever-illusive status of being "rich".
I have tried and tried, over the years, several different business ventures hoping to find my proverbial "niche".
I have earned lots of money and spent lots of money and lost lots of money in that pursuit. I simply wanted to be a
millionaire and be what people consider "rich".
Finally, after re-reading Matthew 6:25-33 (NIV)
25 “Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
I have finally come to the conclusion that I am already rich, I am already a "Billionaire ".
How is that you ask? Well, my bank account certainly does not attest to that fact.
I have come to the realization that after 66 years of life, that I am rich in things that even money can't buy.
These things are worth more than gold itself.
I am rich in blessing. I am rich in grace. I am rich in health. I am rich in life. I am rich in salvation. God
has supplied all of my basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. These things I actually already have.
I already have more food than I need. I have way more clothes than I need. I have a house way bigger than what I need.
I am blessed so much that I sometimes forget how blessed I am. We tend to ask God for more and more and more.
Just like the children of Israel. When God delivered them from slavery and bondage. Then God gave them water,
then manna in the Wilderness but they still grumbled and complained when they became bored of
the manna and asked for meat. Then God gave them meat.
Oh, my how we seem to never be satisfied with the blessings we already have right in front of us.
God was showing them as he shows us today that HE will supply all of our needs, and we should only rely on Him for our
needs and not man or any other idols.
